Collection of various papers (circa 80pp) from hostels for Czech refugee children at Plas-yn-Green, Denbigh, and Edmond Castle, Carlisle, during the Second World War, consisting mainly of drawings, collages, posters, and essays (in German) by the children, ranging in age from about 8 to 15, and including Marie Kreissl, Susi Mandel, Tomy Freund, Hedy Hünigen, Elfi [?], Gerda Polinecen, Ruth Orustein, Renée Stern, Hans Epstein, Fritz H, Peter [?], Eva [?], and Max [?], reflecting their views on the war, memories of the fall of Prague, their hopes for the reconstruction of their homeland after the war, belief that the Russians would liberate their country, reflections on Mothers' Day and Easter, and their day-to-day life in the hostels, some of the drawings being satirical poking fun of the Nazi leaders. Together with: a photograph of some of the girls at Edmond Castle, Miriam Darvas, Nora Darvas, Renée Stern, Melanie Marmar, Lydia Schwarz, Ruth Orustein, Hedy Hünigen, and Gerda Polinecen; a poster for a 'Great Czechoslovak-British Rally' on 12 July 1942 at Kenwood, Hampstead, organised by the Czechoslovak-British Friendship Club.
