Details: Joseph Travers and Sons Ltd were wholesale grocers with a head office at Cannon Street (near the present Church location), forerunner of a modern-day multi-national company with branches in several countries. The fortunes of the Company were severely affected by the destruction of their warehouse in St Katharine Docks and their spice mills at Wapping during the Blitz. post-war mergers and takeovers saw the demise of the original family company.
