Inscriptions in the book are becoming difficult to read. 1990: The Llantwit-Major Town Council has employed C J Ball Stone-Masons of Barry to clean and re-cut lettering of both the cross and the book. 1983-1984: The railing around the memorial was erected, free of charge by a resident who manufactured them at his engineering firm at Llandow Industrial State. 1947-1948: Prayer book was erected.
