GAINED THE / VICTORIA CROSS IN SOUTH AFRICA NEAR COLESBERG 6 JANY 1900 AND / RETIRED AS MAJOR IN 1910. HE REJOINED THE ARMY ON THE OUTBREAK / OF HOSTILITIES AUG 1914. WAS APPOINTED LIEUT COL COMMANDING / THE SHERWOOD RANGERS (NOTTS YEOMANRY) AND WAS KILLED LEADING / ON CHOCOLATE HILL GALLIPOLI / HIS LIFE FOR HIS COUNTRY , HIS SOUL TO GOD
