Description
Plaque - Rectangular brass plaque with a convex curved top, Glider Pilot Regiment badge surmounting the dedication all incised and coloured black . Window Left light - Physical description. At top a winged horse drawing a chariot surrounded by stars and blue drapery . Below this a robed figure looking to the heavens surrounded by doves and winged figures all on a pediment below which are two parts of the commemoration , the badge of the Army Air Corps and two crowned lions as supporters and on either side two winged figures , the whole in multiple colours . Window Right Light - physical description . At top a winged horse drawing a chariot surrounded by stars and blue drapery, Below that two robed figures reaching towards the towers and gate of a stylised city all surrounded by winged angels and figures in armour .Below this a pediment with part of the commemoration then the "Pegasus" badge of the Airborne Forces supported by two crowned lions and on either side winged angels .Then the last part of the commemoration and the wings , crown and surmounting lion of the Airborne Forces . The whole in multiple colours. Window Left light -symbolic description .The Mantle of Elijah falls from him as he ascends to Heaven after Elisha Window Right Light - symbolic description . The Beleagured City of Dothan is depicted with Elisha pointing to the heavenly hosts represented symbolically who are ready to defend it , The Besieging army is shown stricken with blindness

PLAQUE: The stained glass window above is a memorial to the/men of the Glider Pilot Regiment who died between/1942-1945. It was designed & made by Harry Stammers/of York & dedicated by the Bishop of Salisbury in/1951.The Regiment was the forerunner of the /Army Air Corps which was formed in 1957/ Window . Upper Left Light : /I PRAY THEE LET A/ DOUBLE PORTION OF/THY SPIRIT BE UPON ME/ Lower Left Light: /IN PROUD MEMORY OF THE OFFICERS /AND SERGEANT PILOTS OF THE /GLIDER PILOT REGIMENT WHO GAVE /THEIR LIVES IN THE WAR 1942-1945/ Upper right light:/FEAR NOT:FOR THEY THAT/BE WITH US ARE MORE THAN/THEY THAT BE WITH THEM/ Lower right light :/SEE THAT YE HOLD FAST THE HERITAGE /WE LEAVE YOU , YEA AND TEACH YOUR /CHILDREN THAT NEVER IN THE COMING/CENTURIES MAY THEIR HEARTS FAIL OR/THEIR HANDS GROW WEAK/
