  • Manchester Evening News 16/12/1920 reported: "POLICE MEMORIALS. Each Division of the Manchester Police Force is to have a war memorial to perpetuate the memory of the 681 members of the force who made the supreme sacrifice in the war. The unveiling ceremony of the "B" Division tablet was performed last night at the Police Athletic Club Room in Moss Brook Road, Moston". www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000272/19201216/057/0004# (As a report in the Manchester Evening News on 11/11/1920 had reported that the memorial for A Division had been erected that day, it is likely that each of the Division's memorials were unveiled at much the same time. N.B. the figure of 681 which was given in the press report re those "who made the supreme sacrifice" was actually referring to those who had enlisted, including survivors).
