- Description
- In the South Transept a marble wall monument carved with figures in high relief and partly free-standing of a native American and two soldiers beside a memorial stone. The latter, consisting of an upended stone with a smaller block placed on top of it, bears the memorial inscription, and on top are a plumed helmet and a sword. At the left the figure of a native American is semi-naked with feathered headdress and holding an upturned axe. At the centre and right a bare-chested soldier lies fallen and is being supported by a kneeling soldier, a firearm lies on the ground beneath them; the whole rests on a narrow ledge with projecting ends.
