- ORIGINAL WOODEN SCULPTURE OF CHRIST ON A CROSS REMOVED CIRCA 1970S OR MID 80S DUE TO DETERIORATION AND RISK TO PEDESTRIANS. FIGURE OF MADONNA AND CHILD CARVED BY PHILLIP TURNER AND GIFTED BY AGNES MANTLE IN 1988. COMPLETE RESTORATION APRIL 2000 WITH £3509 RAISED BY CHURCH AND BALANCE OF £5159 COSTS PROVIDED BY HERITAGE LOTTERY. SECOND WORLD WAR NAMES APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN ADDED BETWEEN 1993 AND 1999 AND POSSIBLY FALKLANDS WAR NAME MORE RECENTLY.
