Album of black and white prints (240) detailing service of a German Officer in command of a Motor Transport servicing company with the Panzergruppe Kleist in Poland and the Soviet Union (Soviet zone of occupied Poland, Soviet Ukraine and Russia) during 1941 - 1942.
Collection includes:
1. Local residents at work in the town of Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, German zone of occupied Poland, June 1941;
2. Shots of ruins of the castle near Łysa Góra, German zone of occupied Poland, May 1941;
3. German soldiers in the city of Lublin probably in last weeks before the Operation Barbarossa; and a very interesting image of civilians queueing up with a large map displaying Eastern Front (recruiting office?), also Lublin, June 1941;
4. Photographs of destroyed Soviet tanks (KV2) and armoured cars, columns of Soviet prisoners of war marching into German captivity at Włodzimierz Wołyński, Soviet zone of occupied Poland. Photographs very likely taken right after launching the Operation Barbarossa as the town was on the German-Soviet border.
5. German troops on the move in the town of Dubno, Soviet zone of occupied Poland; more images of the Soviet prisoners.
