- Description
- A roughly dressed sandstone cross on a pedestal and base with several plaques and a tablet. The wheel cross has a tapered shaft and surmounts a battered oblong pedestal and a square two-stepped base. A recessed dressed panel on the 6 o'clock face of the pedestal bears the original inlaid inscription in upright capital roman lettering. A tall trapezoidal bronze plaque with raised border was subsequently set into the 6 o'clock face of the cross shaft bearing a further WW1 inscription and namelist in raised upright capital lettering. A further tall trapezoidal bronze plaque with polished raised border was subsequently set into the 12 o'clock face of the cross shaft bearing a WW2 inscription and namelist in raised upright capital polished lettering, and a similar small oblong supplementary plaque with a further name was added at a later date. A square black granite tablet was later affixed to the 12 o'clock face of the pedestal with a gilded incised inscription in upright capital block lettering relating to subsequent conflicts.
