- 28/7/1950: The Durham Chronicle's report of the unveiling of the WW2 plaques included mention that the WW1 plaques had been cleaned, rearranged, and placed on the north side of the chancel screen, and the new WW2 plates had been fixed to the south side of the chancel screen.

- Newcastle Daily Chronicle Saturday 9/10/1920 reported: 'MURTON COLLIERY. At Holy Trinity Church, Murton Colliery, a war memorial screen was unveiled to the memory of Murton workmen who fell during the war. A short service was held, conducted by the Rev. G. W Anson Firth. Lieutenant-Colonel E. Vaux, C.M.G., of Sunderland, performed the unveiling ceremony. The screen, which is of oak, cost over £350, and the work was executed by Messrs. Emley and sons, of Newcastle.
