How to book a visit
We are now taking bookings up to July 2024.
- Fill out the Schools Visit Request Form stating the day(s) you would like to visit.
- You will receive a booking confirmation when availability allows.
- Please don't make travel arrangements until you have received a confirmation email with your Visit Confirmation Letter attached.
- Check the booking information and Terms and Conditions.
- Identify potential risks during your visit.
- Take a look at our classroom resources.
Please remember that all UK schools must book in advance. You can sign up to our mailing list to receive news and updates for Learning and Engagement at IWM.
Exhibition Notices
The Holocaust Galleries can only be accessed by schools if they book a London Holocaust Learning Session.
Please note that The Holocaust Galleries will be temporarily closed from 27th November – 4th December for maintenance.
Gift bags
Gift bags are available from the IWM London shop. These can be reserved when booking your visit.
They cost £5 each and can be paid for in advance or invoiced afterwards.

Frequently asked questions
Yes! We have a dedicated, accessible, schools entrance known as the West Entrance. To find the West Entrance, please turn right when you are standing in front of the building, facing the large naval guns. Then turn left and follow the path that runs alongside the building.
IWM tries to ensure we cater for a range of needs and can provide wheelchair access, resources to support blind and visually impaired visitors and deaf and hearing impaired visitors. We also have Quiet Room access available for prayer or sensory needs.

There are a wide range of facilities for students with visual, hearing, learning and mobility impairments. Please get in touch if you have any additional questions.
You will be allocated a lunch time with your booking in our school lunchroom. When using the lunchroom please ensure you do not remain in the space for longer than your allocated time. You are welcome to use the cleaning products provided to wipe down tables. Frequent cleaning will also be in place.
There are outside public spaces you may wish to consider as an option on the day.
A School Bag Room is available; space is limited and it is not staffed so please be advised that all property is left there at your own risk.
All our sites can be reached by public transport. Lambeth North, Waterloo and Elephant & Castle underground stations are within walking distance. Please see TfL Google Maps, AA Route Planner or National Rail for more details.

Teachers and group leaders are advised to carry out a preliminary visit in advance of their school trip. Please see IWM Identified Risk to help you with your own risk assessment.
Home Education groups are welcome to book a self-guided visit in groups of 15 or more and school sessions can be booked for Home Educated groups of any size. If the number in your group is less than 15 please consider buying a family ticket at our paid sites or taking part in a family activity.
Our museum has also been awarded the LOtC badge, nationally recognised as an indicator of good quality educational provision. You can download a copy of our certificate for IWM London here.
