From the early days of flight, through to the dramatic days of the Second World War and the technological advances of the Cold War, IWM Duxford has played a central role in some of the most significant periods of 20th-century history.

    Transforming IWM Duxford

    With the centenary of the Second World War on the horizon, IWM Duxford is set to be transformed.

    New exhibition spaces will integrate aircraft, land vehicles and objects to tell a more coherent and engaging story, bringing Duxford’s historic significance back into focus and allowing visitors to immerse themselves in a journey through the site’s history.

    Douglas R4D 'Ready for Duty'

    The historic US Navy Second World War aircraft, Ready 4 Duty, is honouring the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory in 1945, paying tribute to the sacrifices of Allied sailors and airmen during the Second World War.

    Its 12,000-mile journey has taken it from Texas to IWM Duxford, where it will be based over the summer. 'Ready for Duty' will be open to visitors on certain dates.

    Duxford Flying Season 2025

    Enjoy family-friendly, live-action flying at Duxford Summer Air Show and history-making moments, as we commemorate the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain at Duxford Battle of Britain Air Show.

AirSpace closures

Between 6 March – 20 May, AirSpace will be closed on specific dates for essential conservation work as part of the Transforming Duxford programme. The visitor route will be restricted during this period.
