Step back in time and immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of the spitfire summer, featuring a live performance from the finalists of ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent, the D-Day Darlings. Meet wartime characters and enjoy vintage fashion and hair styling.

Visitors meet experts in RAF Inspire Showcase

Visit the RAF Inspire Showcase in our Conservation Hall and explore cutting-edge technology from RAF partners BAE Systems, Airbus and Fujitsu. Enjoy a large-scale virtual flying display and on Saturday, see the final of the Royal Air Force Engineering Competition 2018. The winners will be announced at the Air Show!

Book signing with author James Holland

In our Meet the Author tent hear from some of the finest First and Second World War writers in the country as they discuss their current books, sign books and take Q&As from the audience. Featuring BBC broadcast and RAF100 flypast expert James Holland.

Visit the Flightline Walk and get up close to the air craft that you’ll be seeing in the skies during our four hour display of history’s finest flying machines. An additional charge of £5.00 applies on the day.

The first Spitfires flew from Duxford airfield, still in use today. Admire the infamous Spitfire Mk.Ia (N3200), shot down on its first and only operation from Duxford as it led the squadron on a patrol to cover the Dunkirk evacuation. This Spitfire was lost for 50 years before returning to IWM Duxford for restoration.  A star of the 2017 film Dunkirk, it still calls IWM Duxford home and will be flying in the Battle of Britain Air Show*

Don't miss the 1940 Operation Room

Discover the 1940s Operation Room the nerve centre of Duxford’s Battle of Britain. From here the men and women who worked on the ground at Duxford directed the station’s pilots into combat.

Classic Wings Aircraft

Take to the skies in one of a number of original vintage aircraft at IWM Duxford with our on-site partners, Classic Wings. From a short hop around our historic airfield in the beautiful art deco De Havilland Dragon Rapide, experience for yourself the excitement of flying. Additional fee applies.
