VE Day 80: Afternoon Tea

Join us aboard HMS Belfast for an afternoon tea commemorating the eightieth anniversary of the VE Day celebrations of May 1945.
The afternoon will begin with a talk in the Officer’s dining room. An expert IWM guide will explore the world of wartime cuisine.
Following the talk, take your seat for a luxury afternoon tea, with a menu specially curated to pay tribute to 1940s rationing and naval recipes.
So much to see and do
-
The whole family will be amazed by the ship’s globe-trotting history, from firing some of the opening shots on D-Day, to sailing in freezing conditions of the Arctic Circle and serving in the Korean War.
-
You’ll hear stories from the 950 people who lived and served on the ship, which had its own chapel, radio station and bakery and is so large you can almost lie Big Ben across its deck – twice!
-
With family activities, fun interactive displays, and stunning views of the Thames, HMS Belfast is an unforgettable day out.
