IWM London is transforming. In 2021, we will be opening ground breaking new Second World War and The Holocaust Galleries. The galleries will see IWM become the first museum in the world to physically and intellectually present the Holocaust narrative within the context of the Second World War.

Alongside the new galleries, a brand new learning suite and public engagement programme will deepen audience engagement with our collections both in the galleries and beyond the museum.

Ongoing work

Work on the new galleries has begun and contractors are now on site starting with the base build of the site, beginning with demolition and planning for mechanical diversions. To facilitate this development, the museum is changing and the Secret War and A Family in Wartime galleries have now closed.

Explore History

Explore History has now closed. A new volunteer-based information service will launch in the atrium at IWM London. Volunteers will be on hand to assist visitors with general enquiries and advise on navigation of the IWM website in order to make research room appointments, trace family history, and offer donations to the museum.
