There is no requirement to book in advance for any of our branches. Visitors, including members, are welcome to turn up on the day. However, we do advise booking online in advance as tickets may not be available on the day of your visit.

The easiest way to buy tickets for our charging branches - IWM Duxford, Churchill War Rooms and HMS Belfast - is online in advance. 


Booking tickets online

We do not send tickets out in the post. After you’ve booked your visit we'll send you a confirmation email with a link to download your e-tickets. You’ll need to print these or bring them on your smartphone or tablet when you visit for our staff to check.

Please note any tickets purchased from a third party agent must be printed off and handed in on entry to our museums.

We recommend that you show your tickets on a smart device on entry to the museum where our staff will scan the barcodes for each individual ticket.

If you don’t have a smart phone or tablet you will need to print your tickets off. If you do not have a printer, we recommend asking a friend who has a printer or visiting a library that offers a printing facility.

No. We do not offer a collection facility.

Our ticketing system prints the ticket name of the person who made the booking. Your tickets will still be valid for other members of your group to use on the day. Your ticket barcode will be scanned on entry.

  • Senior (aged 65 years and over)
  • Child (5 - 15) at charging branches
  • Child (4 or under)
  • Student (in possession of a valid student card)
  • Visitor with a disability (proof of disability allowance required)
  • Personal assistant (one carer per visitor with a disability)
  • IWM Membership (On production of a valid membership card)

Unfortunately we do not offer a discounted rate for seniors, students or visitors with a disability at our air shows. However, visitors with a disability are able to bring a free personal assistant.

All children must be accompanied by an adult when visiting our museums. Our Adult ticket age is 16+.

We ask, where possible, that you make a booking for the time you are expecting to arrive at one of our branches. This will guarantee you entry to the museum for that slot. At busy times you may need to queue before entry. If you are running late, we will attempt to get you in as soon as possible but you may still need to queue.

Once you have arrived, you are welcome to stay in the museum as long as you wish, up to the advertised closing time.

No. If you want to book for several different branches/exhibitions, this will have to be done online in separate transactions.

No. We will not charge you a booking fee or any kind of handling fee when you buy your tickets online.

No. Our tickets are non-transferrable and non-refundable and so please make sure that you are booking the correct ticket type for the correct day. See our terms and conditions.

No. Unfortunately we don’t offer an open dated day ticket. We do however have an annual membership scheme which offers unlimited admission to all of our paying branches. Find more information about IWM membership.

IWM London welcomes visits from groups. Pre-booking for groups is not required.

The maximum party size (number of items) you can add to one basket is 20, this also includes any add-on items such as tours and retail items. In order to purchase more than 20 items you will need to make separate bookings.

We do accept tickets purchased via our approved third party ticket agents for entry to IWM branches. Thrillophilia are not approved by IWM and we do not accept tickets purchased via Thrillophilia for entry to our branches.

Discounts and offers

All visitors to IWM London and IWM North enjoy free admission. 

IWM does not offer a discount for serving military personnel or veterans at our charging branches. IWM is a charity and has a wide, diverse, international audience, many of whom have been affected by conflict. After careful consideration, the decision was made that we would not offer multiple discounts across our audiences. 

However, we do offer free entry to serving military personnel and veterans to all of our branches on Armed Forces Day and Remembrance Sunday.

Serving Military groups in uniform can get free entry to IWM Duxford when booking in advance.

Most of our promotional codes can only be used online (please check the terms and conditions of the offer). When you book your online tickets please add the promotional code on the ‘select ticket’ screen and click enter.

If you have received one of our exclusive Churchill War Rooms discount leaflets you can only redeem this on the day when you hand this leaflet in at the admission till. This offer is not available online and cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or special offers. Cannot be exchanged for monetary value or any other item. Discount is not valid on group bookings.

Yes, you can bring one free carer. You’ll need to select a free Personal Assistant ticket when you make your booking online.

Yes.  If you purchase concessionary tickets (for example, Senior or Student) you must be able to provide evidence of your entitlement when you arrive.

Documentation showing proof of disability examples include: DLA (Disability Living Allowance) or ESA (Employment and Support Allowance) or PIP (Personal Independence Payment) or Attendance Allowance.  

Students will be required to show a valid student card as proof of concession.

No. Vouchers can only be redeemed on the day of your visit.
