There is no requirement to book in advance for any of our branches. Visitors, including members, are welcome to turn up on the day. However, due to Covid-19 distancing measures and strictly limited capacity, we advise booking online in advance as tickets may not be available on the day of your visit.

The easiest way to buy tickets for our charging branches - IWM Duxford, Churchill War Rooms and HMS Belfast - is online in advance. We also recommend reserving your free ticket for IWM North and IWM London before you visit.

During busy periods, we cannot guarantee access to the new Second World War and The Holocaust Galleries at IWM London, even if you have pre booked a general admission ticket. You may have to collect a timed ticket from the info desk on level 0 to enter the new galleries.

Booking tickets online

We do not send tickets out in the post. After you’ve booked your visit we'll send you a confirmation email with a link to download your e-tickets. You’ll need to print these or bring them on your smartphone or tablet when you visit for our staff to check.

Please note any tickets purchased from a third party agent must be printed off and handed in on entry to our museums.

We recommend that you show your tickets on a smart device on entry to the museum where our staff will scan the barcodes for each individual ticket.

If you don’t have a smart phone or tablet you will need to print your tickets off. If you do not have a printer, we recommend asking a friend who has a printer or visiting a library that offers a printing facility.

Please note, any tickets that have been purchased by a third party agent must be printed off and handed in on entry to our museums.

No. We do not offer a collection facility.

Discounts and offers

All visitors to IWM London and IWM North enjoy free admission. Our charging branches offer free admission to serving UK armed forces and veterans on Armed Forces Day and Remembrance Sunday.

Our policy not to offer a forces discount at other times was decided upon after careful thought and consideration. IWM is a charity, with a remit to collect and preserve history of the impact of war from 1914 to contemporary conflict through the arts, social and cultural history of conflict and to bear witness to the Holocaust and other acts of genocide, as well as military operations. Many of our visitors have been affected by our subject matter, and the decision was made not to single out one of these interest groups to receive a discount.

Most of our promotional codes can only be used online (please check the terms and conditions of the offer). When you book your online tickets please add the promotional code on the ‘select ticket’ screen and click enter.

If you have received one of our exclusive Churchill War Rooms discount leaflets you can only redeem this on the day when you hand this leaflet in at the admission till. This offer is not available online and cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or special offers. Cannot be exchanged for monetary value or any other item. Discount is not valid on group bookings.
