Ordering material in advance

IWM’s photographic collection will now be housed at IWM Duxford in a new, state-of-the-art storage facility. As a result, we are no longer able to offer an on-the-day ordering system, and all research material must be ordered at least five full working days in advance of your planned visit.

Moving the photographic collection to the new facility at IWM Duxford will guarantee its long-term preservation and ensure that we can make it available to future generations of researchers.

Exciting changes are happening at IWM London, where ground-breaking new Second World War and The Holocaust Galleries and a digitally-enabled learning suite are being developed and will open in 2021.

We are minimising construction during opening hours where possible. However, as a result of the building work currently taking place on site, visitors to the Research Room will likely experience disruption, including heightened noise levels. This disruption is expected to continue until the end of the year.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to your visit. Please contact customer services if you have any questions about the Transformation of IWM London, or speak with Library staff in the Research Room.
