Project Description
Opening with a description of the small market town of Harleston in south Norfolk before 1914, the book covers the days before the outbreak of World War One before moving on to describe the town's residents were affected by the conflict. The book also details how the style and location of the war memorial were chosen, listing with extensive detail, all seventy two names of those killed during the First World War and twenty-four from the Second World War. Researched and written by author and researcher Ruth Walton, the publication was launched at Harleston Town Church in July 2014. The Town Council paid for a print run of 500 copies of the publication, with all proceeds from sales going to the services charity 'Walking With the Wounded'.
