Project Description

A small number of members of the Village History Group, supported by a number of volunteers, researched life in the village before, during and after the First World War. At the same time, we also researched the lives of all who went to fight during the conflict, including those who did not return. All collated information was published in a book in 2018, with proceeds from its sale donated to military charities. Findings were also illustrated in summarised form via a specially created website. Sections of the research formed the subject of a play performed over two evenings on the anniversary of the Armistice in November 2018. This project was largely funded by a grant from the National Lottery.
