Project Description

During World War One and World War Two, Kingston upon Hull was the second-most heavily bombed place within the United Kingdom, although wartime secrecy resulted in the city being little mentioned in subsequent publications and documentaries. This commemorative initiative sought to raise a permanent memorial to those who died as a direct result of the air raids on the city during both global conflicts. We created and continue to operate Kingston upon Hull's only World War museum, along with free research support and a free resource centre. We also provide educational support to local schools, including geographically relevant and interactive presentations that take place both in classrooms and in the museum. Our endeavours benefitted from Heritage Lottery Fund support.
