Project Description
'Snettisham Remembers' or 'Snett45' was a year-long project in Snettisham, West Norfolk, to discover more information about all forty-five individuals from the village killed during World War One. The forty-five graves were visited by the project group, except for those in Gaza who were visited by British troops, and one at sea, where a commemoration took place at the local beach. At each, letters and local mementos were left. A website was set up to share the uncovered biographical information with a wider online audience. Fund raising for the Poppy Appeal and 'Scotty's Little Soldiers' raised over £16,000 from our village of under 3,000 residents. The remembrance ceremony in the village square also featured in Sky's television coverage on the 2018 centenary of the 11th November Armistice.
