Project Description
This project outlines the building and funding of two war memorials located in Saxlingham Nethergate, Norfolk. Our website explores the lives of not only the men who died during the First World War, but also the one hundred and one who returned, and the impacts that the conflict had upon them and their families. The original inspiration for this venture came from Janet Capon, a local historian. Having worked together on this self-funded research from the late 1990s until she died in 2008, I carried on our investigations and subsequently created the website. The photograph shows the Saxlingham Nethergate War Memorial, situated on the village green.
