Project Description
'In the Pink' was a film produced to commemorate the First World War and the communities of the Gaunless Valley in South West Durham. It was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, and engaged with various local community groups including churches, Cubs & Scouts and schools. The project team paid visits to six primary schools and provided talks on subjects such as Zeppelin raids and the Attestation Procedure regarding local recruitment. The film was shown to 725 people - we were delighted to receive visitors from Edinburgh, Jedburgh, Manchester, Reading, Derby as well as elsewhere in the North East. The film can be viewed online via 'www.vimeo.com/crackintoast/inthepink'. The project website also features biographies of servicemen from the surrounding local area, which formed the basis of research for the film.
