Project Description

This was a project funded internally by the National Trust. The main objective was to research the stories of Quarry Bank connected to the First World War. The project team focused on one specific part of the Greg family: five siblings (Arthur, Bobby, Madge, Helen and Alec Greg), the mill workers who joined the war, and then the impact that the war had on the family and the Quarry Bank community. The main output was an exhibition based in two gallery spaces within the mill, featuring objects belonging to the Greg family and the workers. There was also an online exhibition on the Quarry Bank website, with two talks for members of the public, and a screening of a short film produced by a descendant of the Greg family in response to letters in the archives.
