Project Description

This project was the idea of four volunteers from the Carnegie Heritage Centre who identified the majority of men from Hull and surrounding areas who had lost their lives during the First World War. Each person was researched and documented, with their information collated into a book that is now available for members of the public to access. If photos were available, they were also included as part of the individual's record. Each major battle of the conflict was also published within a separate book, to give a total of ninety-five books, with all kept publicly accessible on the bookshelves of the Carnegie Heritage Centre. Funding for this work came from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
These books have been compiled by the Carnegie Heritage Centre volunteers and record details of individual military men from both World Wars.
