Project Description

To commemorate the centenary of the First World War, Bedfordshire Archives & Records Service told the story of the people of Bedfordshire during the First World War through two online blogs. 'Bedfordshire At War: From the Front Line' focused on the war itself, with daily reports from the Front in the style of a modern war correspondent. It included a daily Roll of Honour naming all the officers and men of the Bedfordshire Regiment and Bedfordshire Yeomanry listed as killed on that date. Blog posts were researched and written by staff members of Bedfordshire Archives.
A group of children and adults are looking at the War Memorial in Town Hall Square, Luton, which is surrounded by wreaths of poppies. The left hand side of the picture is in colour which fades towards black and white on the right hand side. The images of three First World War soldiers have been superimposed on the steps of the War Memorial.
