Project Description

On August 3rd 2014, in association with The Lost Gardens of Heligan, WildWorks created a dawn until dusk continuous theatrical event. This commemorative piece told the stories of the men from the parishes of Mevagissey, Gorran and St Ewe, who went to the First World Warr and lost their lives, as well as the impact of the families they left behind. Together with a huge team of local performers and volunteers, we exchanged knowledge, skills, memories and a shared vision to create a truly spectacular day of remembrance. A six-thousand strong audience joined us at the performance to relive and remember the wartime individuals from this community. The project was supported by Arts Council England, 14-18 NOW and FEAST Cornwall. The photograph is courtesy of Steve Tanner.
