- Description
- A narrow rectangular building with walls of irregular buff coloured stones and a pitched roof of red tiles . On each flank wall are two windows divided into three lights with trefoil shaped heads and smaller lights above with a five light window at one end . Some windows are of plain glass and others stained and painted . In the interior there are a number of War Memorials ,the two most prominent consist of groups of vertical tablets inset into the walls of the building . At one end is the altar above which is a painted depiction of Christ Crucified surrounded by Angels and above that a five light stained glass window . The panelled ceiling is richly decorated in patterns of roses , flowers and mottos with the ceiling bosses being carved and painted . The organ pipes are also painted. The Chapel building was dedicated as the County War Memorial in 1929 and there is evidence that the two most prominent War memorials within the chapel were included in the Dedication .
