- Sheffield Daily Telegraph 7/2/1920 reported on page 5 that: "The Renishaw, Spinkhill, and Emmett Carr war memorial fund now stands at £165 6s. 4d. To complete the proposed scheme of a clock with three mural tablets, containing the names and ranks of the fallen, to be erected in the different districts, a sum of £2OO is required, and a special effort is to be made at once to secure the balance of £35. www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000250/19200207/208/0005
- The War Memorials Trust record of this memorial is WMO 121782, see www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/121782/ (N.B. the press cutting image attached to that record on the Trust's website in fact relates to a separate plaque, which was erected at the Methodist Church in Renishaw, see our reference 94068).
- Derbyshire Courier Saturday 24/7/1920 reported the unveiling of the plaque and the clock at St Matthew's Church: "RENISHAW'S THREE WAR MEMORIALS. Renishaw has now three memorials to the men from the village who fell in the war. One is on a public-house wall at Emmett Carr, another is in the United Methodist Church, and the third, which was unveiled on Wednesday, is in St. Matthews Church. All three are tablets on which the names of the twenty-one men who paid the supreme sacrifice are inscribed, and they have been designed by Mr. Herbert Wright, of Renishaw. In addition to the three tablets a clock has been erected over the porch of St. Matthew's Church and this was started on Wednesday, by Mrs. J. H. Buckley. A memorial service was conducted by Archdeacon Crosse after the unveiling of the tablet, on Wednesday, and he was assisted by the Rev. W, R. Hewson and the Rev. Reese Jones, of Eckington. There was a large congregation. The memorials have been provided as the result of the initiative of the Renishaw, Emmett Carr and Spinkhill War Memorial Committee, of which Messrs. F. Woodcock and B. Collier are joint secretaries. The clock and memorial in St Matthew's Church have cost just over £200, which has been raised by public subscription". www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000395/19200724/116/0005
