White marble tablet with inscription in black lettering commemorating Sydney John Edwin Frederick Buchan, a Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery.

Cross at top in middle of first line of inscription. In Loving Memory of/ OUR ELDEST SON/ SYDNEY JOHN EDWIN FREDERICK BUCHAN,/ BORN JULY 18TH 1893./ JOINED THE 139TH BRIGADE R.F.A. AUGUST 1915,/ WAS DRAFTED TO FRANCE MAY 1916,/ AWARDED MILITARY MEDAL MAY 1917,/ KILLED IN ACTION AT ST. EMILIE, MARCH 21ST 1918,/ AFTER NEARLY 2 YEARS OF ACTIVE SERVICE,/ AGED 19 YEARS, 8 MONTHS./ “HE NOBLY ANSWERED HIS COUNTRY’S CALL.”
