Description
Rectangular tablet in pink veined marble, topped by the badge of Clan Gray and its motto 'Anchor, fast anchor' with a gold cross patonce beneath the dedication. The tablet is surrounded by a narrow border comprising a pattern of three vertical lines (like Roman numeral three).

  • Chelsea News and General Advertiser - Friday 13 April 1928 CHELSEA WILLS Sir Albert Gray KCB, KC gave his wife power to raise up to £5,000 from his residuary estate with the intention that it should be expended towards a memorial to his son, Patrick Walworth Gray ... On her death in 1938 the £5,000 was left for a memorial to their son at Rugby School
  • Chelsea News and General Advertiser - Friday 02 March 1928 The Late Sir Albert Gray, K.C. "His son obtained a commission in the RFA and made the supreme sacrifice. A little memorial plaque in St. Luke's Church, Chelsea bearing the inscription that Lieut. Patrick Walworth Gray RFA died of wounds received in action, is all that that the outside world would know of the tragedy that caused so much grief at Catherine Lodge during those dark days."
