- Description
- A hand-drawn illustrated map, recording the names/nicknames and caricatures of members of Oxford City Police who were serving in the Armed Forces in July 1944, depicting where they were serving at that time, and in which military unit. The glazed-framed map has the Oxford City Police badge at top-centre, and is surrounded by a border that includes the names and badges of the military units in which those named were serving. (Some of those commemorated were recorded on the map by their nicknames, under which the associated "Names" records have been set up; some names were also misspelt. As far as possible, their true forenames have been ascertained from other records, such as the Oxford City Police Association and/or the 1939 Register, and included on those "Names" records).
