- Oval brown marble tablet framed within an ornate grey stone frame. The frame is topped by a laurel bush surrounding a gold latin cross. The inscription is in gilt capital lettering.

- TO THE MEMORY OF/ JOHN HODGES PIPON/ CAPTAIN IN THE CORPS OF ROYAL ENGINEERS/ WHO DIED ON THE XXVIII OF OCTOBER MDCCCXLVI/ AGED XXVIII YEARS/ WHOLE ENGAGED IN AN IMPORTANT PUBLIC SERVICE/ IN THE PROVINCE OF NEW BRUNSWICK/ THIS EXCELLENT OFFICER LOST HIS LIFE/ IN A GENEROUS ATTEMPT TO SAVE A BOY/ WHO WITH HIMSELF HAD BEEN UPSET OUR OF A CANOE/ IN THE RIVER RESTICOUGHE IN THAT PROVINCE./ THIS TABLET HAS BEEN PLACED TO HIS MEMORY/ BY HIS FRIENDS/ IN TOKEN OF THEIR AFFECTIONATE REGARD./ HIS REMAINS LIE INTERRED/ IN THE CEMETERY OF FREDERICTON/ NEW BRUNSWICK
