Description
Freestone Pillar along lines of Mercat Cross. Octagonal in form and rises from a flight of three steps parallel to each of its sides. Each side of octagonal chamber has sunk panels in which are incorporated granite panels with the Dedication and Roll of Honour inscriptions. On south side denoting "Duty and Defence" is the figure of a soldier in the attitude of doing duty. Plinth chamber is finished with a Balcony projected over diagonal panels. Octagonal column has on front Sword of Victory. Double chain balustrade surrounds the base of Memorial.
