- War Reserve Constable Thomas Thomas Edward Eves died on 24/5/1943, aged 41 (www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/3104220/THOMAS EDWARD EVES/ ). "Constable, Police War Reserve. Son of the late Thomas Henry and Margaret Eves, of 37 Welbeck Green, Byker, Newcastle-upon-Tyne; husband of Ruth Eves, of 22 Southfield Terrace, Walker, Newcastle-upon-Tyne. Died at Alexandra Bridge".
- Special Constable Lancelot Cummings Slawther died 16/5/1943, aged 47 (www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/3104373/LANCELOT CUMMINGS SLAWTHER/ ). On 17/5/1943 the Yorkshire Post and Leeds Intelligencer reported that he had been killed on duty near a block of houses that had been wrecked by bombs during an air raid. www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000687/19430517/062/0003
- Newcastle Evening Chronicle 22/3/1944 (page 3) reported that "The first member of Sunderland Police Force to lose his life in the war has been P.C. William Thompson (23), sergeant navigator in the R.A.F. whose father lives at 1 Lisle Grove, Howdon on Tyne". www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0000726/19440322/047/0003 On 23/3/1944 the Newcastle Journal reported on page 2 that William Haswell Thompson of 1 Lisle Grove had been killed in action on the 19th March while serving as a Sergeant Navigator in the RAFVR; he was to be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery on Friday 24th March. www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/viewer/bl/0001547/19440323/037/0002 The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records that Sergeant Navigator William Haswell Thompson of 101 Squadron RAF, service number 1670366, died on 19/3/1944 aged 27, and is buried in Section A, Consecrated grave 443 at Wallsend Holy Cross Cemetery, Northumberland. www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/2811014/WILLIAM HASWELL THOMPSON/
