Description
Families of the WW1 war heroes planted 180 trees in Maldon’s Promenade Park, with plaques dedicated to each one, on November 27, 1935, however, some of the trees had been lost to disease and the individual plaques, set under each tree had been removed. On Saturday 24th November 2012 dignitaries attended a special ceremony to rededicate trees planted in memory of soldiers killed during the First World War and the council unveiled a new memorial display board bearing the names of the soldiers from Maldon and Heybridge. Three new trees were also planted and more are planned to replace the 22 that had been lost over time
