- A portrait of the deceased, surmounted with the Crown, and flanked by the Allied flags; beneath the portrait is the inscription.

- For King and Country/ In memory of Police Constable Fred Stubley, 833 P, who joined the service on the 2nd day of January, 1911; Gunner, Royal Marine Artillery, Royal Fleet Reserve, Immediate Class No. 38, of "H.M.S. Good Hope," which foundered with all hands whilst engaged in action with the German Fleet off the coast of Chile, South America, on the 1st day of November 1914./ This Memorial is subscribed as a token of the esteem and regard in which he was held by all his comrades. (The above wording is a transcript of a report on page 58 of The Police Review and Parade Gossip, dated 29/1/1915, which quoted the inscription but did not indicate the precise layout of the text).

- Norwood Police Station's building in Gipsy Hill (where the memorial was placed in 1914) was supplanted by a new Police Station on Central Hill in 1939. (The former Station building in Gipsy Hill was later converted into Police flats in the 1940s). What became of the memorial is currently unknown.
