Description
Large marble tablet framed within an ogee arch created by 3 columns on either side. The crest of the Austrian Lancers tops the inscription which is inlaid in black roman capitals.

IN MEMORY/ OF/ FRANCIS EDWARD ROBERTSON BOGHURST,/ CAPTAIN IN THE 3RD REGIMENT OF/ AUSTRIAN LANCERS;/ THE BELOVED AND ONLY SON OF/ EDWARD AND MARGARET BOGHURST,/ OF BEVERLEY, IN THE COUNTY OF YORK./ HE DIED ON THE 24TH OF JANUARY 1847,/ AT IREGH IN HUNGARY,/ AFTER A SHORT BUT PAINFUL ILLNESS,/ AGED 29 YEARS./ THIS MONUMENT/ WAS ERECTED BY HIS MATERNAL UNCLE,/ THE REVD EBENEZER ROBERTSON,/ VICAR OF THIS PARISH,/ AS A TOKEN OF AFFECTIONATE REGARD./ "QUIS DESIDERO SIT PUDOR AUT MODUS/ TAM CARI CAPITIS?"/ "MULTIS ILLE BONIS FLEBILIS OCCIDIT."
