  • Aberdeen Press and Journal - Tuesday 17 February 1920 -WAR MEMORIAL UNVEILED. The memorial monument in memory of the 27 soldiers belonging to Forgue Parish Church who made the supreme sacrifice was unveiled and dedicated at the morning service on Sunday. In spite of the stormy weather, perhaps the largest congregation seen at Forgue for 50 years assembled within the church. Conspicuous among the worshippers for their connection with the Army were Major Alexander and Captain Alexander of Cobairdy; Captain Medhurst, Huntly; and Sister C. F. Middleton, who has been twelve times decorated since receiving the Mons (1914) Medal. The service was conducted entirely by the Rev. C. W. Stobie. Mrs Stobie officiated at the organ, and Tennyson's "Crossing the Bar" was sung as a duet by Misses Wilson and Mackenzie. After the sermon the congregation and minister went to the graveyard, and the minister unveiled the memorial dedicating it to the honour of the fallen soldiers, whose names are:— (names) A collection, taken on retiring for the "Save the Children" fund, amounted to £7 10s. .
  • Aberdeen Press and Journal - Wednesday 11 February 1920 -FORGUE WAR MEMORIAL. The memorial stone to the fallen soldiers of Forgue Parish Church has just been brought to its place of erection in the graveyard, and will stand veiled till Sunday first, when it is to duly dedicated.
