Description
The Scottish Naval and Military Veterans' Residence - ROSENDAEL , 3 Victoria Road, BROUGHTY FERRY ,ANGUS . The dwellighouse was donated by Dundee Jute Baron , John Normansell Kyd in Memory of 2nd Lieutenant FRANK PROCTOR KYD, East Surrey Regiment attached 11th Battalion the Royal Warwickshire Regiment killed in action 18 August 1916 and buried in Lonsdale Cemetery, Authuile , France . This young officer's grave is in the Somme . The Kyd family left their mansion in Broughty Ferry and an endowment of £10,000 to Scottish Veterans' Residences to run a home for Veteran Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen following the death of their son killed in action .
