Rectangular white marble tablet , the longer axis horizontal , the inscription incised and coloured black .

THIS TABLET/IS ERECTED TO THE MEMORY OF/CHARLES BOWDEN GUNDRY ESQUIRE/SECOND SON OF SAMUEL BOWDEN GUNDRY, ESQUIRE /AND CAROLINE HIS WIFE , OF THIS TOWN/THE DECEASED WAS A LIEUTENANT /OF THE 12TH REGIMENT OF BENGAL N.1.(Native Infantry) /WHICH REGIMENT HE JOINED IN NOVEMBER 1843 AT FEROZEPORE/AND SERVED WITH , THROUGHOUT THE FIRST SIKH CAMPAIGN/UNDER THE COMMAND OF SIR JOHN LITTLER AND LORD GOUGH/HE DIED AT MOOLTAN , INDIA ,ON THE 31ST AUGUST 1851 , AGED 25/DEEPLY REGRETTED BY HIS FAMILY/HIS BROTHER OFFICERS , AND BY ALL HIS FRIENDS /
