Description
Rectangular brass plaque , the longer axis vertical . Within a border of two lines are multi coloured flourishes . At the top is the inscription and below that the names and military details in four columns separated by single vertical lines . The corners are pierced for fixing to a flat surface , but the plaque is resting loosely against a window ledge .. Church officials stated (Aug 2019) that this memorial had been lost for a long period and had only recently been rediscovered . Its condition suggests that it has been in wet conditions or possibly underwater because the colour is loose and flaking and the brass badly corroded . It is unclear whether its original situation was the church of St Peter where it now resides because the heading refers to "TITCHFIELD" and neither the Church or its Parishioners are mentioned .
