Spitfire Pilot James Dixon, an Australian of the/ Royal Australian Air Force, crashed into the back gardens of Bypass Street, Margam./ Eye witnesses account said he chose to stay with his aircraft rather than to bale out./ He diverted his aircraft into the gardens thereby killing himself to save the lives of the/ people of Bypass Street, Margam./ Denys Parsons/ Author
