- Description
- A rectangular plaque , the longer axis horizontal , set within an ebonised wood frame .The base of the plaque is of hammered copper with a wide brass border impressed with roses and leaves .At top left is the badge of the Royal Artillery and at top right a coat of arms probably of the Cobbold Family .At bottom is a latin motto and the inscription is constructed from brass letters in the Gothic Style .

- /in affectionate remembrance of/Charles Townsend Cobbold 2nd Lieut R F A /27th Battery , aged 23 , who fell in Action on/3rd October 1916 , near Les Boeufs , France ,Youngest /son of A Hills Cobbold and only son of Ellen /Cobbold of Brownhills House Nursling , Hants/Quo fas et Gloria ducunt/ translated as "everywhere , where right and glory leads us" /(motto of the Royal Artillery )
