- Rectangular off white marble tablet , the longer axis vertical , on a mottled black marble backboard .At top a low relief carved badge of the Essex Regiment below that the inscription incised and coloured black .

- /IN/LOVING MEMORY /OF/ARTHUR HENRY FOOTNER/2ND LIEUT 1ST BATTN.ESSEX REGIMENT/SECOND SON OF THE LATE HENRY FOOTNER/AND/GRANDSON OF THE LATE GEORGE BRIGHT FOOTNER/OF ROMSEY ,HAMPSHIRE/WHO,IN ANSWER TO HIS COUNTRY'S CALL ,SERVED WITH THE CEYLON/CONTINGENT IN EGYPT AND IN THE SUEZ CANAL: BECAME ATTACHED TO/THE NEW ZEALAND EXPEDITIONARY FORCE:TOOK PART IN THE ORIGINAL/LANDING ON THE GALLIPOLI PENINSULA AT GABA TEPE ON SUNDAY THE/25TH APRIL ,1915:SERVED ON THE PENINSULA AT ANZAC FOR SEVERAL/MONTHS:WAS SUBSEQUENTLY GAZETTED TO THE 1ST BATTALION ,ESSEX REGIMENT/ONE OF THE FOUR BATTALIONS OF THE 88TH INFANTRY BRIGADE,OF THE/FAMOUS 29TH DIVISION AND WAS ULTIMATELY KILLED WHILE GALLANTLY/LEADING HIS MEN IN AN ASSAULT ON A TURKISH TRENCH NEAR/CAPE HELLES ON THE 6TH AUGUST 1915/AGED 27/"FOUND FAITHFUL ".1 Cor .IV.2/LOVED BY ALL WHO KNEW HIMAND GREATLY MISSED/THIS TABLET IS ERECTED BY HIS MOTHER, BROTHER AND SISTERS/
