Description
A low upright rectangular gravestone with straight sides , with no decoration except for a low relief carving on a square panel in the top left corner , protruding slightly above the top of the main panel . The dedication is constructed from cast lead lettering . The gravestone is at the head of a low plain kerb surrounding the gravespace .

IN LOVING MEMORY OF/…../ALSO PTE GILBERT SIDNEY SMITH/R W K REGT/WHO MADE THE SUPREME SACRIFICE IN ITALY 27TH MARCH 1944/AGED 29 YEARS/…/ NOTE - the lettering is badly eroded and difficult to read. The above commemoration has been partly supplemented by reference to the CWGC website . The abbreviation "R W K " stands for the Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment .
