1820/BATTLE /of/BONNYMUIR/ON 5TH APRIL 1820, A BAND OF SCOTS/WORKING CLASS RADICALS FOUGHT/HERE FOR THEIR DEMOCRATIC RIGHTS/AGAINST A TROOP OF HORSE/FROM THE BRITISH ARMY/THE RADICALS TOOK COVER BEHIND/A FIVE-FOOT HIGH DRY STANE-DYKE,/LOCATED IN THIS FIELD:/LATER KNOWN AS/"THE RADICAL DYKE"/THEY WERE QUICKLY OVER-POWERED/AND TAKEN PRISONER. THEIR TWO/LEADERS-JOHN BAIRD FROM/CONDORRAT AND ANDREW HARDIE/FROM GLASGOW WERE EXECUTED AT STIRLING/ERECTED IN APRIL 2007 BY THE 1820 SOCIETY/WITH THE PERMISSION OF/J. POLLOCK AND SONS [the landowners]
