Description

Section of an elaborate marble stone commemorating Second Lieutenant (Formerly The Reverend) Robert Alexander Cameron Macmillan on display in The Highlanders Museum, Fort George. Gilded crown at top with Seaforth Highland crest below, relief image of MacMillan in centre with inscription below.

SACRED / TO THE GLORIOUS MEMORY OF / THE REV. R. A. C. MACMILLAN MA DPHIL., / MINISTER OF THIS CHURCH / 1913 TO 1917 / CHAPLAIN TO THE 2ND CAMERONS 1915-16. / SEC. LIEUTENANT 2ND. SEAFORTH HIGHLANDERS 1916-17. / WHO FELL IN ACTION AT FAMPOUX NEAR ARRAS, FRANCE APRIL 11, 1917. / AGED 33. / ALSO OF ALL THE HEROES WHOSE NAMES ARE HERE RECORDED / WHO WERE ASSOCIATED WITH ST JOHN'S CHURCH AND MISSIONS / AND WHO WERE KILLED IN ACTION DURING THE GREAT WAR OF 1914-1918.
