Description
A freestone obelisk standing on a series of four octagonal steps, and surrounded by wrought iron railings. The bronze memorial tablets are set into the stone pedestal faces which project out from the four sides. A bronze soldier, head bowed and arms reversed, by Glasgow sculptor Kellock Brown is set at the front of the monument (Brown executed the same figure for the Penpont memorial). The memorial stands on a rise in Morton Park. In 2011 the name of a Korean War casualty was added. The commemoration is carved on the stone shield at the base of the obelisk. The carving is becoming eroded
